Mithrandir + Microsoft Teams
Connecting Microsoft Teams gives every AI agent your company uses what was said in its channels, chats and meetings. Claude, ChatGPT, Copilot and Cursor answer with the message or the transcript line behind them. Each person sees only what Teams already shows them, from team channels to private chats.
What it reads
What Mithrandir reads from Microsoft Teams
- Messages in standard, private and shared channels
- One-on-one, group and meeting chats
- Meeting transcripts, joined to the meeting on the calendar
- Who said what, and when
Access
The access rules that carry over
- A standard channel is seen by the team's members and owners. A private or shared channel, by that channel's members.
- A chat is seen by its members. Someone added without chat history does not see the older messages, as in Teams.
- A meeting transcript is seen by the people in the meeting: organizer, invitees and the people who joined.
- A disabled account sees nothing.
Setup
Set up in three steps
- 1
Your Microsoft 365 admin approves one read-only Mithrandir application for the company.
- 2
The admin files Microsoft's request for apps that read Teams messages and transcripts; Teams content follows once Microsoft approves.
- 3
People ask from the agent they already use and get answers from their own teams, chats and meetings.
Examples
What your agents can now answer
- “What did we decide in Tuesday's pricing meeting?”
- “Which open questions did the supplier raise in our shared channel?”
- “Who agreed to own the follow-up from the quarterly review?”
Questions
Microsoft Teams and Mithrandir, answered
- Does Microsoft need to approve anything?
- Yes. Microsoft reviews every app that reads Teams messages and meeting transcripts. Your admin files one request on setup day. Until it is approved, teams, channels and their members are known, and messages follow after.
- Are private chats included?
- Yes. One-on-one, group and meeting chats are included, and each one is seen only by the people in it.
- Does it post in Teams?
- No. The application only reads. It never posts or changes anything in Teams.
